Hello and welcome to the latest edition of ‘What’s That You’re Doing?’
|
“You say it's your birthday, it's my birthday too, yeah!” June gave us cause for a big celebration, as Paul celebrated his birthday and thanked everyone for their loving vibes. And the party didn’t stop there: from cookbooks to music videos, it’s been a busy month…
It’s the perfect time of year to eat your greens and help the planet, with allotments blooming and the amazing new cookbook Linda McCartney’s Family Kitchen finally arriving in bookshops! Put together by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney and featuring over 90 plant-based recipes, Linda McCartney’s Family Kitchen takes Linda’s best-loved family recipes and brings them up to date for the modern cook. To celebrate the cookbook, Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney sat down with Romesh Ranganathan for a special online event - check out a clip from their chat here. This month's ‘You Gave Me The Answer’ website Q&A was also veggie-friendly, as Paul revealed how he and Linda made the decision to go vegetarian in the first place, and shared stories about ‘macaroni turkey’ and about eating in lockdown. Read it here!
Spreading the veggie love further, Meat Free Monday kicked off their new interview series ‘My life in meat free food’ by getting the lowdown on Paul’s eating habits. Read what he had to say here. Paul also supported Stella McCartney and HSI Global’s no fur petition #OurTimeHasCome, because “no animal should worry about losing their fur.” See if you can guess who is behind the mask...

Mark your calendars and set a reminder on your TV: not one but TWO exciting shows announced their air dates for later this year. The hotly anticipated documentary film The Beatles: Get Back will arrive on Disney Plus in three parts on 25th, 26th and 27th November 2021 (that’s our Thanksgiving plans sorted!), and Paul will appear in Watch The Sound with Mark Ronson which premieres on Apple TV+ on July 30th 2021. Check out the latest trailer here!
On International Surfing Day, Paul partnered with Surfrider Foundation Australia to create a new music video for McCartney III’s ‘Slidin’’. Directed by Jack McCoy and featuring surfer Craig Anderson, the video highlights the beauty of the ocean and the wonder of surfing the waves. Watch the ‘Slidin’’ music video on YouTube, and head to Surfrider Australia’s website to learn more. And from one McCartney III to another: the physical release of McCartney III Imagined is right around the corner! It wouldn’t be June without a little sun celebration, so despite the rainy weather here in the UK, Paul shared a sunny message marking the summer solstice on 21st June. On Sunday 20th June, Paul paid tribute to his ‘lovely dad’ with a heart-warming Father’s Day photo.
You know the drill – new month, new ‘Sticking Out Of My Back Pocket’ playlist on Spotify! This time we’re thinking of all of you: the Paul McCartney fans around the world. While we might be separated by oceans and countries, the music still connects us, and often the inspiration for Paul’s songs can be found on a map. So whether you’re ‘Back In Brazil’ or at a ‘Hotel In Benidorm’, press play and give in to your ‘Wanderlust’. Listen here!
All the best!
