Hello and welcome to the March edition of ‘What’s That You’re Doing?’

"The truth is that I have always been interested in photography, from the time I was very young, when our family owned a little box camera in the 1950s. I used to love the whole process of loading a roll of Kodak film into our Brownie camera" – Paul

"Looking at these photos now, decades after they were taken, I find there’s a sort of innocence about them. Everything was new to us at this point" – Paul

It’s that time of year again where the clocks ‘spring forward’ - but here at PaulMcCartney.com we’re winding them back instead, to 1973 when Wings released their iconic album Red Rose Speedway!
Perhaps the best-known song from the album, ‘My Love’ celebrated 50 years since its chart-topping release on 23rd March. The enduring love song premiered during Wings’ University Tour and went on to sell over one million copies, giving Wings their first US Number One single. To celebrate the anniversary, the ‘My Love’ music video has been restored in 4K. Watch it now on YouTube!

There’s plenty to ‘Say, Say, Say’ this month – particularly as Norwegian DJ and music producer Kygo has remade Paul and Michael Jackson’s 1983 hit single, out today! Listen to the track here. Paul was also flattered when artists including Patti Smith performed a tribute concert at Carnegie Hall, posting on social media that ‘Last night’s tribute concert made this boy from Liverpool very happy’. World Book Day arrived on 2nd March, with Grandude, Nandude and the Chillers sharing a message (via Paul!) on social media. Then on 17th March, Paul posted a photo ‘Wishing you a very Happy St Patrick’s Day’.
What’s the biggest risk Paul has taken in his long career? There’s plenty we can think of: leaving The Beatles, forming Wings, McCartney II... The list goes on! This month’s ‘You Gave Me The Answer’ question comes from Nati on Twitter – find out which moment Paul chose here, and see whether he considers himself a ‘risk-taker’.
As we're feeling nostalgic this month, the latest 'Sticking Out Of My Back Pocket' playlist takes us on a journey through the McCartney eras. From the 'Early Days' with The Beatles to Paul's mullet-sporting '70s with Wings, the power ballad bangers of the '80s, or even 2020’s 'Rockdown', there are so many to explore - listen now on Spotify.
